The Harrisburg Tigers have been crowned the Argus Leader’s 2025‑26 girls soccer Team of the Year, earning 53.04% of the vote from a readership that recognized a season of dominance.
A Season of Dominance
Finishing the campaign at 16‑1‑1, the Tigers turned a solitary setback into a statement, rebounding with a 3‑1 victory over O’Gorman in the Class AA state championship.
Their defensive consistency was a hallmark, conceding only four goals all year, three of which arrived in that single loss, while posting three clean sheets en route to the title.
Senior forward Nyah Aware led the attack with 15 goals, complemented by Auburn Barrett’s 11 markers and Taylor Syverson’s eight, forming a potent trio that powered the team’s success.
The honor reflects not only the players’ skill but also the club’s culture of resilience and teamwork, a narrative that resonated throughout South Dakota’s soccer community.
