Alex Krakowiak Joins Liberty Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff

Former James Madison Star Returns to Campus as Assistant Coach

Alex Krakowiak has been named an assistant coach for Liberty Men's Soccer, a move that brings a familiar face back to the program after a distinguished playing career.

The former James Madison midfielder spent four seasons with the Dukes, appearing in 60 games with 49 starts, captaining the side in his final year and contributing to the 2023 NCAA Sweet 16 run that marked the program’s deepest tournament appearance.

Krakowiak’s coaching résumé includes two seasons as an assistant with Lynchburg FC in the USPL and a role with Central Virginia United, where he also guided the U15 Boys side and ran private training sessions since 2022.

His work earned him a spot on the Virginia South Coaching Staff of the Year for 2026, underscoring his impact on player development at the youth level.

Internationally, he earned caps with the Polish Youth National Teams at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels, and he honed his early development in the Toronto FC Academy from age 12 to 19.

A New Chapter at Liberty

The appointment signals Liberty’s intent to blend home‑grown talent with proven coaching acumen, positioning the program for continued growth in the competitive NCAA landscape.

Scott Wells, who also appears in the release, is expected to collaborate closely with Krakowiak, adding further depth to the coaching staff.
