Kansas State women's basketball has released its non‑conference schedule for the 2026‑27 season, a slate that promises a rigorous test early in the year. The Wildcats will play nine home games, beginning with a four‑game stretch at Bramlage Coliseum that opens on November 2 against Wichita State.
A demanding non‑conference road
The schedule is deliberately challenging, featuring teams that reached the postseason in 2025‑26 such as Minnesota, North Carolina State and Villanova, as well as Power 4 opponents like Missouri. Kansas State will also travel to St. Joseph, Missouri, to close the non‑conference portion against Creighton.
In addition to regular‑season matchups, the Wildcats will compete in two tournaments. They will head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for The Invitational and then fly to Fort Myers, Florida, for the Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip‑Off, where they are slated to meet NC State and Villanova.
The home stand also includes games against Southern Indiana, UTRGV, Montana, Central Arkansas, Northern Iowa, Stephen F. Austin and Western Illinois, providing a blend of mid‑major competition and preparation for conference play. Each of these opponents brings a different style of play, helping the team fine‑tune its strategies before the Big 12 schedule begins.
Coach Jeff Mittie and his staff have emphasized that the non‑conference slate is designed not only to test the team but also to build momentum heading into Big 12 play. With a mix of seasoned programs and rising mid‑major teams, the Wildcats are set for an exciting start to the 2026‑27 campaign.
