Scholar‑Athletes Recognized
Six members of the University of Maine women's ice hockey team have been named AHCA/Krampade Division I All‑American Scholars, a distinction that celebrates both athletic contribution and scholarly performance.
The American Hockey Coaches Association announced the honor on Monday, emphasizing that the accolade is reserved for student‑athletes who maintain a minimum 3.75 GPA throughout the academic year and appear in at least 40 percent of their team's games.
Eligibility and Exceptions
To qualify, each player must meet the GPA threshold and satisfy the participation requirement, with limited exceptions granted to injured athletes and backup goaltenders who meet the academic standard.
The six recipients — Julia Bachetti, Jaidyn Britt, Lily Fetch, Mackenzie Podewell, Haley Ryan and Lila Shea — exemplify the program's commitment to developing well‑rounded leaders who excel on the ice and in the classroom.
Both the American Hockey Coaches Association and the University of Maine highlighted the achievement, noting that the recognition underscores the institution's dedication to fostering academic excellence alongside competitive success.
