A Commitment in the Sunshine State
Armani Strong, a four‑star wide receiver from Chaminade‑Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida, announced his commitment to the University of Florida on Tuesday, marking the Gators’ first pledge for the 2028 recruiting cycle.
The announcement came after Strong spent two days immersed in the Gators’ recruiting showcase, first at the annual Friday Night Lights camp on June 19 and then at the Grill in the Ville cookout the following day, experiences he described as pivotal in his decision.
Strong chose Florida over traditional powerhouses Notre Dame, Miami and Florida State, a decision that reflects both the program’s growing appeal and the player’s desire to stay close to home while competing at the highest level of college football.
His pledge adds to a budding class that already includes fellow receivers Elias Pearl, Tramond Collins and Anthony Jennings, a group that could reshape the Gators’ offensive outlook in the years ahead.
Coach Jon Sumrall, who has been spearheading the recruiting effort, praised Strong’s athleticism and work ethic, noting that the receiver’s 2025 season at Miami Norland Senior High School — where he logged 39 catches for 532 yards and six touchdowns — demonstrated a blend of size and speed that aligns with Florida’s offensive scheme.
Beyond the numbers, Strong’s versatility was evident during his junior year at Chaminade‑Madonna Prep, where he transferred after a standout sophomore campaign, continuing to refine his route running and contested‑catch ability under the guidance of coaches Hayes Fawcett and others.
