Utah State Alumni Chase NFL Dreams After Draft

Undrafted free agents and CFL signees look to prove themselves

Former Utah State Aggies have begun to scatter across the professional football map, each inking deals that could reshape their careers. The wave of signings reflects a broader trend of undrafted talent finding pathways into the NFL and its Canadian counterpart.

Brady Boyd, who caught 46 passes for 742 yards last season, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Noah Avinger, who posted 84 tackles, a sack and three tackles for loss in 2025, earned a similar contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Miles Davis, a versatile back who amassed 731 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in the 2026 campaign, joined the Carolina Panthers after a series of minicamp evaluations. His dual-threat production — 201 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns — adds depth to the Panthers' offensive options.

The ripple extended to other Aggies alumni: Bryson Barnes, Bryson Taylor, Broc Lane and John Miller each received minicamp invitations from NFL franchises such as the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans. Several of them also eye practice‑squad spots as they vie for roster places.

On the Canadian side, Ike Larsen signed with the Calgary Stampeders, bringing his 56 tackles and one interception from the previous college season to a league that opened its 2025 schedule on June 4. Though the CFL season began, neither Larsen nor Barnes saw game action, leaving their ultimate roster status still up in the air.

What’s next for the former Aggies?

The coming weeks will be decisive. Minicamp performances, injury reports and coaching staff preferences will determine which players secure spots on active rosters, practice squads or practice‑squad-eligible lists. For Boyd, Avinger and Davis, the NFL offers a chance to prove that a college career at Utah State can translate into meaningful contributions at the highest level of the sport.
