Dunmore rallied past West Scranton 10-9 in a District 17 Majors Baseball game on Monday at North Pocono, turning a tight contest into a dramatic finish.
The rally was sparked by a three-run burst in the bottom of the sixth inning, a turning point that left the crowd buzzing.
Jacob Polishan earned the win on the mound for Dunmore, delivering a solid outing that included two hits, including a double, and an RBI.
Luciano Cintron added a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Max Foley, Kevin Kapmeyer and Carter Bantell each contributed a hit and an RBI to the rally.
West Scranton answered with a strong effort, as KJ Abram and Connor Kinney each collected two hits and two RBIs, and Luke Collins smashed a double with two RBIs.
Other contributors for the losing side included Cullen Kopa, Jack Schalk, Garren Connor, Darian Marte and Derek Uribe, each chipping in a hit.
North Pocono continued its dominant stretch, posting a 5-0 victory over North/East/Connell with a two-hit shutout from Ben Carr, Antonio Pellegrino and Bo West.
James Walsh and Elijah Snyder each logged two hits for North Pocono, while Jason Sheehan, Dante DiAndriola and Carr added further support, and Bo West drove in two runs.
Wallenpaupack also moved forward with an 8-3 win over Carbondale, highlighted by Ben Valerio's two hits and three runs, Gabe Ryner's two hits, and Bowen Kuhn and Jeffery Wentzell each scoring twice.
Championship Series Action
In the District 32 9-10-11 Baseball championship series, Green Ridge opened with a 10-0 triumph over Wallenpaupack, powered by pitcher Mike Meyers, who struck out seven, added a triple and two RBIs, and saw Patrick Tunney and Jordan Vescovi contribute two hits and two RBIs respectively.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Green Ridge, promising another chance for the teams to clash.
Additional action included Connell/East/Jefferson's 5-4 win over Moosic, where Nathan Kane drove in two runs and two RBIs, and Ben Hunter secured the win with four strikeouts, while Jaxsen Masker closed out the save.
Old Forge's softball squad also shined, routing North Pocono/Jefferson 17-2 with a barrage of extra-base hits from Alyssa Dominick, Adeline Renzi, Jilibel Destefano and Sydney Kishel, who drove in four RBIs.
