A Season of Dual Distinction
The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) recently unveiled its Krampade All‑American Scholar list, a designation that merges academic excellence with meaningful contributions on the ice. To earn the honor, student‑athletes must maintain a 3.75 GPA and appear in at least 40 percent of their team's games.
From the University of Minnesota Duluth, five members of the women's hockey roster were placed on the scholar list, underscoring the program's emphasis on developing student‑athletes who thrive both academically and competitively.
Recognition Across the Board
Four of the honorees are repeat recipients, reflecting a sustained pattern of meeting the rigorous academic and participation standards set by the association. Among them, Eve Gascon not only earned the scholar designation but also received CCM/AHCA All‑American status for her on‑ice performance.
Gascon, a native of Mascouche, Quebec, has now accumulated both academic and athletic honors in consecutive seasons, illustrating a consistent trajectory of achievement that bridges scholarship and sport.
Her teammates — Ida Karlsson, Ava MacLeod, Ashley Messier and Krista Parkkonen — join her as this year's scholars, each meeting the demanding 3.75 GPA and game‑appearance thresholds while contributing to the Bulldogs' on‑ice success.
A Broader Context
The recognition highlights the University of Minnesota Duluth's role as a hub for cultivating well‑rounded talent within collegiate hockey. With the backing of its partners and the local community, the Bulldogs look forward to building on this momentum as the next season approaches.
