The Wichita Eagle has unveiled its All‑Metro girls soccer team for the 2026 spring season, honoring the standout athletes and coaches who have shaped the regional landscape over the past months.
Player of the Year
Sara Claire Michaelis of Bishop Carroll was crowned All‑Metro Player of the Year after a season in which she netted 39 goals and supplied 21 assists, while also earning All‑American status and the Kansas Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year award.
Her attacking brilliance was echoed by a host of other key contributors, including Brynn Bachura, who anchored the Andover Central defense, and Reagan Best, a pivotal forward for Eisenhower.
Countywide Impact
Midfield dynamo Joslen Craig powered Campus with box‑to‑box energy, while Liza Dugan steadied Bishop Carroll’s back line and Jules Elliott emerged as one of the state’s top goalkeepers. Stella Fury of Kapaun added a dynamic attacking spark, and Caroline Giroux proved a top center back for Maize South.
Freshman Victoria Gonzalez‑Quezada made an immediate impact, and senior Sydney Hansen along with Presley Schmidt served as key attacking pieces for Maize South and Goddard respectively. Avery Hottovy, a breakout offensive threat in Class 4‑1A, and Kyia Kelly, a dangerous scoring option for Rose Hill, further enriched the roster.
Defensively, Amelia Leggett, Katie Robert, Annabelle Schaefer and Lexee Shipp anchored their teams, while Kaeleigh Shamburger and Lili Thiessen excelled in their respective defensive roles. Creative midfielders such as Andrea Vielmas and Charley Kerschen added depth, and Roger Downing guided Eisenhower to its most successful season in program history.
The selections underscore the depth of talent across Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties and set a high bar for the upcoming season, as the region looks to build on a legacy of excellence.
