The PCM softball team improved to 20‑3 overall after a 2‑1 victory over Van Meter on Tuesday night. The decisive moment came in the top of the seventh when Hadley Millang drove a double that plated the winning run, sparking a brief but intense rally.
Camden Webb opened the game on the mound, delivering five innings that yielded just three hits and a single run while striking out nine batters. He handed the ball to Libby Winters for the final two frames, during which she retired all six batters she faced, adding six more strikeouts to preserve the lead.
The baseball team, meanwhile, slipped to 16‑8 after a 9‑1 defeat at the hands of Lynnville‑Sully. Starter Roston McCarty worked 6 ⅓ innings, surrendering six runs and nine hits with only one strikeout before being relieved by Jensson Hodd, who allowed three runs over the last two‑thirds of an inning.
Offensive highlights included a two‑hit effort from Jaden Houser, but the team could not overcome the early deficit. Both squads are scheduled to play additional games later that evening, underscoring a packed schedule for the PCM programs.
