Nine standout players recognized for championship success and statistical excellence

The South Bend Tribune has unveiled its 2026 Baseball All-Area team, a tribute to the region’s most impactful high school players who combined statistical dominance with championship success.

Player of the Year: Reed Robinson

He batted .505, amassed 48 hits, drove in 28 runs, and posted a 1.456 OPS, while also stealing 20 bases.

His all‑around performance underscored the Cougars’ dominance, a streak that has defined the program over the past several seasons.

Other standout seniors also received recognition. Sullivan Kress of New Prairie posted a 1.27 ERA over 55.1 innings, striking out 93 batters and adding a .447 average at the plate. Mason Biernacki, a sophomore from Penn, helped the Kingsmen reach the IHSAA 4A semi‑state game, finishing the season 25‑7.

Braxton Cline from Goshen led his offense with a .479 average, 46 hits and 39 RBIs, while Finley Miller of NorthWood combined a 2.38 ERA with a .442 batting average. Brenden Olsen of Niles posted a .446 average and a 1.363 OPS, and Ryder Richard of Brandywine set a school record with 19 doubles, contributing to a 30‑win season and the team’s first Division 3 district title since 2008.

Zack Rouch of Bremen led his squad in nearly every offensive category, hitting .488 with 35 RBIs and a 1.374 OPS. Drew Bingamon of Triton excelled both at the plate and on the mound, batting .490, stealing 25 bases and posting a 0.63 ERA in 66⅔ innings.

Additional honorees include Joey Hauger of Concord, who posted a 2.00 ERA with 66 strikeouts; Max Shreiner of Elkhart, who hit .431 with seven home runs; and Brayden Fischer of Edwardsburg, who drove in 39 runs. The depth of talent extended to players like Broderic Kaler of Jimtown, Mekhi Pulluaim of John Glenn, Landon Johns of Mishawaka, and many others, each contributing to a rich tapestry of performance across the region.

The selections also recognized pitchers such as Isaac Gill of Mishawaka Marian, who posted a 1.69 ERA and 67 strikeouts, and Cayden Stockbridge of Penn, who recorded 99 strikeouts and eight wins. Weston Hoke of South Bend Adams and James Criniti of South Bend Saint Joseph added further offensive firepower with high OPS figures and stolen‑base threats.

The All‑Area team reflects a competitive landscape that spans Indiana and neighboring Michigan communities, from New Prairie and Penn to Goshen, Brandywine and beyond. The South Bend Tribune’s list not only celebrates individual excellence but also highlights the collaborative success of schools that have turned regular‑season victories into deep playoff runs.
