Wake Forest University has announced the addition of Belgian forward Xander Pintelon, a versatile scorer and playmaker who brings a blend of European experience and collegiate grit to the Demon Deacons program.
A Versatile Addition
Pintelon arrives after a standout stint at Florida Atlantic University, where he appeared in 33 games with 25 starts and posted averages of 6.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. His shooting precision was evident in a season‑high 20‑point outing against UCF, during which he hit 4‑of‑8 from three‑point range and shot 85.4 percent from the free‑throw line, tops among his teammates.
Head coach Steve Forbes praised the newcomer’s length, skill set and basketball IQ, noting that Pintelon’s ability to stretch the floor and create opportunities will complement the existing roster. Forbes highlighted the player’s work ethic and readiness to contribute in multiple roles.
Beyond his collegiate numbers, Pintelon has represented Belgium on the senior national team, averaging nine points per game, and was a key figure in the country’s run to the semifinals of the FIBA U20 European Championship in 2023. He previously honed his craft with clubs such as BV Topsportschool U16 Antwerp and Filou Oostende, gaining a reputation for disciplined defense and sharp shooting.
The coaching staff believes Pintelon’s international pedigree will not only elevate competition in practice but also provide a global perspective that enriches the team culture. As he integrates into the program, fans can expect to see a player eager to translate his European success into impact on the court at Wake Forest.
