Former president of the Portneuf Valley Soccer Club, Cristie Stone, has been charged with one count of felony grand theft after investigators uncovered a series of questionable financial moves that siphoned nearly $219,000 from the club’s accounts.
Allegations and Financial Trail
The club’s finance and office administrator flagged irregular transactions totaling $186,372.44 that were routed to Stone’s personal credit card, prompting a deeper audit of the club’s books.
Stone has maintained that the transfers were the result of an accidental linking of her personal card to the club’s banking system and has already repaid $50,000, promising to settle the remainder.
Board Response and Legal Outlook
During an emergency meeting, the club’s board moved to suspend Stone’s presidency, but it stopped short of a formal agreement with her or her attorney, Richard Blok, leaving the matter to be reviewed by a prosecutor.
Stone is slated to appear for an arraignment on July 6, 2026, and if convicted she could receive a prison term of up to 14 years, a prospect that has drawn attention from both the local sports community and legal observers.
