Boston College’s men’s hockey program is celebrating another milestone, as junior goaltender Jan Korec has been selected as an All-American Scholar by the American Hockey Coaches Association for the third straight season.
What the honor entails
The All-American Scholar designation requires a minimum 3.75 GPA across both semesters and participation in at least 40 percent of a team’s games. Exceptions are made for injured players and backup goaltenders, but the academic standard remains unchanged.
Korec’s academic record aligns perfectly with those criteria, reflecting a disciplined approach that mirrors his performance between the pipes.
A season of growth
During the 2025-26 campaign, Korec appeared in four games, starting three of them, and finished with a 1-2-0 record. His most recent outing came at the KwikTrip Holiday Faceoff in Milwaukee, where he turned aside 19 shots to secure a win over Lake Superior.
The goaltender’s 19-save effort not only contributed to the team’s victory but also highlighted his ability to perform under pressure despite a modest win‑loss ledger.
Looking ahead
Coaches and teammates alike expect Korec to continue balancing rigorous scholarship with competitive play as the season progresses. His consistent presence on the scholar‑athlete list suggests a promising trajectory both academically and athletically.
