Carolina Capizzi, a senior at Lyons Township High School, was recently honored as all-state in soccer, marking the first time the center midfielder has earned the distinction.
All‑State Recognition
Beyond the statistics, Capizzi treasures the camaraderie forged with her teammates, a bond she says was amplified by the steady encouragement of former teammate Avery Wengerd.
Committed to DePaul University, she will pursue a health‑sciences major on a pre‑med track, a path she began to chart after missing her entire sophomore season due to a broken foot.
On the field, she contributed a team‑best 13 assists and shared second place on the Lions with 11 goals, helping the squad finish 17‑3‑3 and secure their 13th straight regional championship while also capturing the West Suburban Conference Silver Division title for the first time since her freshman year.
The Lions’ triumph was further highlighted when Capizzi’s Galaxy club soccer side captured the Under‑17 Girls Academy Champions Cup last July, underscoring her continued rise.
