A Strategic Addition for the Lumberjacks
Jason Navas, a former collegiate goalkeeper with a strong coaching pedigree, has accepted a dual role as assistant coach and Director of Goalkeeping for the Northern Arizona soccer team. In this capacity, he will oversee the development of the program’s keepers while also contributing to the broader coaching staff.
Navas arrives after stints as an assistant coach and recruiting camp coordinator at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he honed his ability to identify and attract talent. His career also includes leadership positions at Florida Southern College, Saint Leo University, and Webber International University, as well as club experience with the Clearwater Chargers Soccer Club and the West Florida Flames.
Across these roles, Navas has specialized in coaching goalkeepers of all ages, guiding several youth academies and leading teams that have earned regional recognition. He previously earned honors such as Tampa Tribune and All‑Suncoast selections, and he was an alternate on the 96 ODP Championship squad before appearing in an All‑Star match against the Liverpool Youth Academy.
A graduate of USF‑St. Petersburg with a bachelor’s degree in criminology earned in 2019, Navas holds United States Soccer Federation (USSF) ‘A’ and ‘C’ coaching licenses, along with multiple diplomas from United Soccer Coaches. His blend of playing experience, academic background, and coaching certifications positions him to elevate the Lumberjacks’ defensive unit.
Beyond his professional credentials, Navas brings a deep connection to the soccer community in Florida and a passion for mentoring student‑athletes. His appointment reflects Northern Arizona’s commitment to building a competitive, well‑rounded program that can contend at the national level.
