The baseball community mourns the loss of Roger Cador, the longtime mentor who guided Southern University’s Jaguars to prominence.
Championship Legacy
Over a career that spanned three decades, Cador compiled a record of 913 wins, 597 losses and one tie, a testament to his sustained excellence.
His teams captured two HBCU National Championships in 2003 and 2005 and secured 14 Southwest Athletic Conference titles.
Cador stepped down after the 2017 season, having taken the reins of the program in 1984, and his departure marked the end of an era for the university.
In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2022, cementing his place among the sport’s greats.
Beyond the trophy case, Cador’s influence reshaped the development of HBCU baseball, inspiring coaches and players across the nation.
