A 39‑year‑old high school football coach in Pinellas County was taken into custody this week after investigators said he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a 14‑year‑old girl who once played on his team.
Pattern of Abuse
According to detectives, Reginald Seay began contacting the teenager when she was 13, sending her sexually explicit messages for more than three months and exposing himself during video calls. He also instructed the girl to delete the conversations to avoid detection.
Legal Consequences
Seay was arrested at his Clearwater residence and, during an interview with detectives, admitted to the allegations. He now faces a single count of harmful communication to a minor and was transferred to the Pinellas County Jail.
Investigation Continues
Authorities have kept the case open and are asking anyone with additional information to come forward. Corporal K. McKee of the sheriff’s office said tips from the public could be crucial in completing the investigation.
