Indiana State University announced Tuesday that Andy Lasher will join its baseball program as the new hitting coach, overseeing the outfielders.
A Coach With a Proven Track Record
Lasher arrives after a distinguished tenure at Oakland City University, where he guided the Eagles to a 207‑124 record over three seasons and captured back‑to‑back River States Conference regular‑season and tournament titles.
During his time in Indiana, Lasher broke the school’s win record in three consecutive years and helped the Mighty Oaks secure the 2026 Blue Grass World Series championship.
His coaching journey also includes a COVID‑shortened stint at the University of Southern Indiana, followed by roles at Eastern Illinois University and Olney Central College, where he honed his ability to develop hitters and defensive standouts.
Before moving into coaching, Lasher played collegiately at Olney Central College and the University of Evansville, compiling a .260 career average with 20 RBI and six multi‑hit games, and ranking third in school history with 66 walks.
A 2013 graduate of Evansville with a business administration degree, Lasher has mentored several players who earned MLB draft selections and signed professional contracts, underscoring his talent for player development.
University officials expressed confidence that Lasher’s blend of offensive expertise and outfield experience will elevate the Sycamores’ performance in the upcoming season.
