The Bucknell Bison baseball squad capped a remarkable 2026 campaign by clinching a spot in the Patriot League championship, a feat that underscored the team’s competitive resurgence after a strong regular season.
Beyond the scoreboard, the Bison also dominated the academic arena, with 29 players earning spots on the Patriot League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. Their collective effort contributed to a league‑wide tally of 569 scholars out of 3,900 nominees, the highest total among all Patriot League institutions.
The squad’s average GPA of 3.52 in the spring semester topped all 27 varsity sports at Bucknell, and 22 of those honorees made the Dean’s List by surpassing the 3.50 threshold, reflecting a deep commitment to scholarship.
Academic Accolades
Among the standouts, graduating senior Hadley Maxwell was crowned the 2026 Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was joined on the Academic All‑Patriot League team by rising sophomore Jack Keane, junior Bryce Mitchell and senior Zach Selfon, each of whom posted a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Maxwell’s academic triumph was complemented by a broader roster of scholars, including John Calabrese, Everett Garber and Ty Lagoni, who were also recognized on the CSC Academic All‑District squad, further cementing the team’s reputation for excellence.
The Bison’s dual achievement highlights a growing trend at Bucknell, where athletic ambition and scholarly rigor are pursued in tandem, setting a benchmark for other programs across the league.
