The Detroit Red Wings announced on Tuesday that they have re‑signed forward Carter Mazur to a two‑year contract, guaranteeing an average annual salary of $875,000.
A Promising Trajectory
Mazur, 24, made his NHL debut on March 6, 2025 against the Utah Hockey Club, stepping onto the ice after a season that saw him split time between the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Red Wings.
During the 2025‑26 campaign he recorded 16 points in 16 regular‑season games with the Griffins, showcasing a blend of offensive skill and physical play that earned him a spot on Detroit’s roster.
From College Champion to Professional
The forward’s development began at the University of Denver, where he contributed to a NCAA Division I championship in 2022 and logged 57 points in 95 USHL games with the Tri‑City Storm before turning pro.
Selected in the third round, 70th overall, of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Mazur has since accumulated 16 points in eight NHL appearances and continues to refine his game at the highest level.
His international résumé includes stints with Team USA at the 2023 IIHF World Championship and the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, underscoring his reputation on a global stage.
A native of Jackson, Michigan, Mazur returns to the organization with a clear goal: to translate his AHL success into more consistent NHL minutes and help the Red Wings push for a playoff berth.
