Cesar Adim, an assistant coach with the UMBC Retrievers, has been appointed to the staff of the Nigerian Men's National Team as they prepare for the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers. The qualifiers will be staged in Luanda, Angola, where Nigeria will face hosts Angola as well as Guinea, Tunisia and Rwanda in a bid to secure one of the five African slots that lead to the tournament in Qatar. The stakes extend beyond continental pride, offering a direct path to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Fizdale's Vision for the Future
Head coach David Fizdale, a former NBA bench boss with the Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks, will guide the Nigerian side. He has articulated a clear ambition to build a competitive roster capable of challenging the world's best and ultimately earning a spot at the Olympic Games.
