Liana Kaitu'u Steps Into Coaching Role at Snow College
The Snow College women's basketball program announced the hiring of Liana Kaitu'u as its new assistant coach, effective immediately. The move comes as the team gears up for the 2026‑27 season under head coach Michael Shreeve.
Kaitu'u arrives after a season spent as an assistant coach at Judge Memorial Catholic High School, where she contributed to the program's recent growth and player development.
Prior to her coaching stint, she served as an assistant girls basketball coach at West High School during the 2025‑26 campaign, helping the Panthers secure a runner‑up finish in the 5A state tournament.
Her playing résumé is equally impressive. Kaitu'u starred for Utah Valley University before completing a master's degree there in 2024, and she also played at the University of Portland, earning a Bachelor's in Business Marketing in 2022.
During her collegiate career she was part of a Pilots squad that captured the West Coast Conference championship in 2019‑20 and contributed to a National Tournament appearance in 2023. At the high school level she led East High School to a 5A state title in 2017‑18 and earned multiple all‑state honors.
A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kaitu'u expressed enthusiasm about returning to her home state to mentor the next generation of athletes. She will work closely with Shreeve and the coaching staff to shape strategy and player development for the upcoming season.
Looking Ahead to the 2026‑27 Season
With the new coaching staff in place, Snow College hopes to build on recent progress and compete more strongly in regional competition. Kaitu'u's blend of playing experience and coaching background is expected to bring a fresh perspective to practice sessions and game preparation.
