A Rising Star in Rowan County Baseball
Cameron Williamson, a recent graduate of Carson High School, has become the linchpin of the Rowan County American Legion baseball team, anchoring the infield at shortstop.
After transitioning from second base, Williamson has embraced the demands of shortstop, delivering a blend of range, arm strength, and poise that has reshaped the team's defensive outlook.
His defensive résumé includes a series of spectacular grabs and a pivotal play that helped the squad survive a 19‑inning marathon, a testament to his composure under pressure.
Offensively, he carries a .226 batting average and a .402 on‑base percentage, contributing 11 RBIs and scoring 20 runs throughout the season.
Balancing Athletics and Academia
Off the field, Williamson remains committed to his studies, a priority reinforced by his mother, an educator, who has long emphasized the importance of academics.
He will continue his baseball career and education at Cleveland Community College, where he hopes to pursue a path in physical therapy or athletic training.
The road ahead promises new challenges, but the shortstop’s strong arm and calm head suggest he is well‑equipped to meet them.
