Graeson Register, a former Greenwood baseball standout and the 52nd‑ranked high school prospect in Texas according to Baseball America, has officially committed to the University of Houston, bringing a highly anticipated chapter to the Cougars' roster.
A New Chapter in Houston
Register initially signed with Texas A&M but reopened his recruitment after circumstances beyond his control emerged. The decision opened the door to interest from a host of top programs, including USC, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee and Oklahoma.
What ultimately swayed Register was the belief that Houston offered the most realistic pathway to immediate freshman playing time. He highlighted the program’s developmental environment and the chance to contribute right away as decisive factors.
In a statement, Register praised the Houston coaching staff, especially head coach Will Davis and pitching coach Jace Hutchins, for their expertise and the support they have shown throughout his recruitment.
Beyond his college decision, Register is already looking ahead to a marquee matchup: he hopes to pitch against Texas A&M in a tournament game scheduled for March 7, 2027, at Daikin Park in Houston, a venue that will host the showdown.
