Jack Marder, a longtime assistant coach with the Oregon Ducks, has accepted a new role as the recruiting coordinator for the Texas Longhorns, bringing a proven track record of talent development to the SEC program.
A Strategic Shift for Texas
During his seven‑year tenure at Oregon, Marder wore multiple hats, serving as hitting coach, catchers coach and a key architect of the program’s recruiting strategy. His influence helped the Ducks secure three Super Regional appearances in just four seasons, underscoring his reputation as one of college baseball’s most effective assistants.
Marder’s own playing days at Oregon (2010‑2011) and subsequent selection by the Seattle Mariners in 2011 gave him a player‑first perspective that he has carried into coaching, a background that resonates with today’s roster of aspiring professionals.
Expressing appreciation for his time in Eugene, Marder said the university provided “an incredible opportunity and experience,” a sentiment that reflects the deep respect he holds for the program that launched his career.
The move comes on the heels of a dramatic 2026 Austin Super Regional where Texas eliminated Oregon, a victory that propelled the Longhorns to the College World Series. The Longhorns finished the season with a 46‑15 overall record and a 19‑10 mark in SEC play, a testament to the program’s resurgence under head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
Marder’s sister, Sam Marder, also contributes to Oregon’s softball staff, making the family’s imprint on Ducks athletics a multi‑sport story that highlights the broader impact of coaching within the university.
