A Coaching Shuffle in College Baseball
Jack Marder, who spent seven years shaping the Oregon Ducks’ baseball program as hitting coach, catchers coach and recruiting coordinator, announced his move to the Texas Longhorns, where he will serve as the team’s new recruiting coordinator.
Marder’s journey in college baseball began as a player for Oregon from 2010 to 2011, after being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2011. His on‑field experience blended with a graduate‑level understanding of the game, leading to three Super Regional appearances in four seasons and an extra‑innings victory over USC that capped the Ducks’ regular season.
During Mark Wasikowski’s brief leave of absence, Marder stepped in as acting head coach, guiding the team through a critical stretch. His sister, Sam Marder, also contributes to Oregon’s softball program as an assistant coach, underscoring a family deep‑rooted in collegiate competition.
Looking Ahead
Texas, fresh off a 46‑15 record in 2026 and a 19‑10 mark in SEC play, eliminated Oregon in the Austin Super Regional, advancing to the College World Series. Marder’s recruitment expertise is expected to bolster the Longhorns’ talent pipeline as they prepare for national contention.
The transition reflects a broader trend of top assistants seeking new challenges, and Marder’s arrival signals Texas’s intent to leverage his proven ability to identify and develop future stars.
