The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley announced that its football season tickets have sold out for the second consecutive year, underscoring the growing popularity of the program.
Stadium Expansion Details
The recent expansion of Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium, completed in 2025, increased the venue’s capacity from roughly 12,000 to 13,498 seats. A new south end zone added more than 3,300 dedicated spots for students, modernizing sightlines and concession areas while preserving the stadium’s intimate atmosphere.
More than 7,600 season tickets were snapped up for the 2026 campaign, a figure that not only matches but exceeds the previous year’s sales, reflecting a sustained surge in fan interest across the Rio Grande Valley.
University officials say the enlarged student section has created a more vibrant atmosphere on game days, encouraging greater campus involvement and alumni participation, and turning Saturday afternoons into a community celebration.
