New Faces on the Ice

Michigan Tech’s hockey program is gearing up for the 2026‑27 campaign, and head coach Bill Muckalt is excited about the eight newcomers set to join the roster.

The incoming class blends a variety of competitive backgrounds, featuring four defensemen, three forwards and a goaltender, each bringing a distinct skill set to the team.

The Huskies will open their schedule on October 2‑3 with a home series against the Minnesota Gophers at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena, before traveling to face St. Cloud State, Alaska and Ferris State in the first month.

Among the fresh faces, Lucas Brenton from the University of Manitoba stands out as a big, strong puck‑moving defenseman known for his leadership, while Giovanni Morneau, a forward from Lindenwood University, earned the NCAA Division I Independent Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.

Conner Roulette, a fourth‑round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2021, arrives from the University of Saskatchewan, and Luke Shipley from the University of Massachusetts‑Lowell brings a smooth skating style as an offensive right‑shot defenseman.

Veteran presence also comes from Morgan Brady of Green Bay, a hard‑hitting defenseman, and Joey Costanzo, a seasoned goaltender from Windsor with 107 OHL wins, while Tristan Delisle from Owen Sound and Austin Moline from Madison add depth at center and defense.

Season ticket packages will become available to fans on July 8, giving supporters a chance to secure seats for the upcoming slate of games.
