A Record‑Setting Run
The Eagles closed the season at 14‑0, capping a 30‑game winning streak with a 30‑0 shutout of Toledo Central Catholic in the Division III state final.
Coach Brian Kennedy, who was named The Dispatch’s Boys Coach of the Year, says the current group represents the strongest talent he has coached at Watterson.
Last season the team averaged 45.5 points per game while surrendering just 5.7 points, a disparity that underscores its balance of firepower and discipline.
Stars on Both Sides of the Ball
Michael Boyle, an all‑state defensive lineman, also earned The Dispatch’s Boys Athlete of the Year after securing three Division II wrestling state championships and committing to Ohio State’s wrestling program.
At quarterback, Drew Bellisari will continue his career at Miami University, bringing a poise that helped steer the offense through a flawless campaign.
Ben Uhlenhake, a key contributor on the gridiron, also played a pivotal role in the school’s baseball team reaching the Division III state runner‑up game.
Next fall the Eagles will move up to Division II, a challenge they meet with the same confidence that defined their recent triumphs.
