Special Olympics and Lions Clubs International Join Forces for Unified Football World Cup 2026

A new content partnership will showcase the inclusive spirit of the upcoming tournament in Paris

The Special Olympics and the Lions Clubs International Foundation have announced a collaborative effort to provide comprehensive content services for the Unified Football World Cup Paris 2026, scheduled to run from 6 to 11 July 2026.

A dedicated team of photographers, videographers and writers will capture every facet of the event, from the on‑field action to the surrounding community activities, ensuring that the stories of the participants reach a global audience.

All material produced will be made available royalty‑free, allowing media outlets and partners to amplify the tournament’s message of unity and athletic excellence without financial barriers.

Celebrating Unified Sports

David Evangelista, President and CEO of Special Olympics, underscored the importance of sharing each player’s narrative, stating that these stories embody the heart of the organization.

Fabrício Oliveira, Chairperson of the Lions Clubs International Foundation, added that every photograph, video and article has the power to inspire and foster greater understanding of inclusive sport.

The tournament will feature 23 national delegations competing in both women’s and men’s divisions, with the women’s competition using a 7‑a‑side format and the men’s competition played in the traditional 11‑a‑side configuration.

Unified Sports brings together footballers with and without intellectual disabilities on the same teams, reinforcing the principle that ability knows no boundaries.
