The San Jose Sharks announced this week that they have signed veteran goaltender Kyle Keyser to a one-year, two-way contract, a move that adds depth to their goaltending corps as the team looks to bounce back from a challenging season.
Keyser, 27, brings a blend of AHL experience and international exposure, having spent the past season in the Russian KHL with Kunlun Red Star before returning to North America for the 2025-26 campaign.
Career Highlights and Statistical Profile
During the 2025-26 season he posted a 9-4-1 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage for the Colorado Eagles of the AHL, while his stint with the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL saw him go 6-4-1 with a 2.43 GAA and .917 SV%.
Across 88 AHL appearances he has compiled a 38-31-14 record with a 2.71 GAA and .905 SV%, and in the ECHL he holds a 22-23-5 mark with a 3.12 GAA and .897 SV% over 54 games.
Keyser's junior career in the OHL was equally impressive; he earned OHL Second All-Star Team honors in 2018-19 and helped the United States capture a silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championship.
The goaltender's professional journey began when he signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins on October 3, 2017, a step that paved the way for his subsequent moves to the Colorado Eagles, Utah Grizzlies and, briefly, the KHL.
General Manager Mike Grier praised the signing, noting that Keyser's experience and reliability make him a valuable asset as the Sharks aim to strengthen their roster ahead of the upcoming season.
