Bearcats to debut under Jerrod Calhoun in Bahamian summer league

Exhibition games against Canadian universities highlight August schedule

The University of Cincinnati’s men’s basketball program is set to travel to the Bahamas this August for a pair of exhibition contests that will serve as the first public showcase of the team under new head coach Jerrod Calhoun.

The Bearcats will meet the University of Calgary and the University of Victoria on August 1 and August 4 as part of the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League, a five‑year‑old tournament hosted at the luxury Baha Mar resort.

Canadian foes bring U Sports pedigree

Both Calgary and Victoria compete in U Sports, the top tier of Canadian collegiate athletics, and Victoria recently advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 U Sports Men’s Final 8 after beating the Calgary Dinos in the opening round.

The exhibition schedule also features other NCAA powerhouses such as Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Valparaiso, promising a diverse slate of opponents for the Bearcats.

Baha Mar Hoops is organized by event management firm BdG Sports, which has run the summer league since its inception and continues to expand its reach across North American college basketball.

For Cincinnati, the games represent a valuable opportunity to fine‑tune strategies and build chemistry before the regular season, while also giving fans a first look at Calhoun’s system in a competitive environment.
