A Recruiting Landscape in Motion
Davis Cochran, a 6‑foot‑9 power forward from Brentwood High School in Tennessee, entered the 2027 recruiting conversation as a three‑star prospect. His blend of size, mobility and rebounding has drawn attention from programs across the country.
The athlete has trimmed his list to eight institutions: Cincinnati, Clemson, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Virginia. In the national rankings he sits at No. 146 overall and holds the No. 2 spot among Tennessee prospects, underscoring the competitive nature of his recruitment.
His first official visit is slated for July 21 at Kansas State, a trip that will give him a closer look at the Wildcats’ facilities and coaching staff. Cochran has indicated he will schedule additional official visits throughout the fall, a timeline that could shape his final decision.
Beyond Kansas State, the recruit has also secured offers from Virginia Tech, Butler, Boston College, Northwestern, High Point, Western Kentucky, New Mexico and several other schools. In the Nike EYBL Circuit he is averaging 11.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for Brad Beal Elite, numbers that have not gone unnoticed.
Rivals national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw recently highlighted Cochran as one of the standout performers at EYBL Session One, noting his impact on the court and his rising profile among evaluators.
