LSU’s baseball program is set to travel to Las Vegas for the 2027 Live Like Lou Las Vegas College Baseball Classic, a three‑day showcase that will bring together some of the nation’s top collegiate programs.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The event, scheduled for March 5‑7 at the state‑of‑the‑art Las Vegas Ballpark, will feature a round‑robin schedule in which each of the four participating teams — LSU, Arizona State, Iowa and Oregon State — will play two games apiece over the course of the tournament.
After the final day of competition, the Tigers will stay in town for a single showdown against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on March 8, a rematch that echoes LSU’s 1991 visit to the same venue, where they won two of three games.
A Cause Bigger Than the Game
The Classic is organized in partnership with the Live Like Lou Foundation, an organization founded to honor the legacy of baseball Hall‑of‑Famer Lou Gehrig and to advance research and support for families affected by ALS.
Ryan Holloway, founder and CEO of Peak Events, the company producing the tournament, said the event blends high‑level competition with a meaningful cause, offering fans a chance to contribute to ALS awareness while enjoying top‑tier college baseball.
Tickets for the Classic will go on sale to the general public next week, but fans can secure a pre‑sale advantage by registering at the Peak Events website, www.peak.events.
Legacy and Community Impact
Beyond the games, the foundation’s programming includes community outreach, fundraising activities and educational initiatives that keep Lou Gehrig’s spirit of perseverance alive, reinforcing the tournament’s mission to make a lasting impact on ALS research and support.
