Coach Curt Ray guided Big Rapids to a flawless 7-0 record in league action and finished the season with a 16-5-1 overall slate, a performance that has drawn praise for its tactical discipline and depth. Nalaya Fricke emerged as the centerpiece of the squad, earning Player of the Year honors after recording 32 goals and 12 assists. Ray described her as the most physically gifted athlete he has coached in the past 14 years, noting her ability to dominate both in the air and on the ground.
Emily Waltz, a sophomore, contributed 25 goals and seven assists, impressing observers with her finesse and composure under pressure. Ava Pedigo, also a sophomore, serves as the team's quarterback, orchestrating play with a vision that belies her age.
The midfield and defensive sectors were anchored by Madison Vennix, who has manned the outside midfield for two seasons, and Madelyn Vallade, a sophomore who excelled in the defensive line. Ava Westin, a three-year starter, provided the backbone of the backline, while Olivia Godfrey guarded the goal with an 87.2 save percentage and 13 shutouts.
Defensive standout Candace Wrisley helped the team post the lowest goals-against total in program history, a testament to the unit's cohesion and discipline. Ella Grinnell served as a field leader, combining strong defensive instincts with a noticeable uptick in attacking contributions.
Natalie Clark added an offensive spark with seven goals and nine assists, particularly excelling on corner kicks that often proved decisive. The collective effort placed the Pioneer All-Area team among the most competitive in recent memory.
Beyond the field, Abbey Pollaski distinguished herself as a midfielder with a 3.6 GPA, securing a place at Baruch College to study Psychology. Her academic achievements reflect the team's emphasis on balancing sport with scholarship.
