Dallas Correa, a Hanapape native from Kauai, has returned to the University of Hawai'i as associate head coach and pitching coordinator for the Rainbow Warriors baseball program. His appointment marks a homecoming for a coach who grew up on the islands and has long been connected to the local baseball community.
A Journey From the Pacific to the Brewers and Back
After serving as director of player development at Hawai'i Pacific University, where he helped the team to back‑to‑back winning seasons in Big West play, Correa spent three years as head coach at HPU. He then moved to the professional ranks, becoming the minor‑league catching coordinator for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2024 through 2026, a role that sharpened his analytical and developmental skills.
During his tenure at HPU, Correa’s squads set conference records for double plays per game and ranked second in stolen bases per game in 2021. He also spearheaded the Sharks Baseball Corporate sponsorship program and the First Pitch Dinner, raising more than $100,000 in each of his first two years, underscoring his ability to build resources for the program.
Correa coached three HPU players — Rico Garcia, Brandon Bonilla and Matthew Gunter — who each signed professional contracts, a testament to his talent for nurturing talent. His local roots, combined with a decade of experience in both collegiate and minor‑league settings, position him to mentor the next generation of Rainbow Warriors pitchers.
A 2011 graduate of Saint Louis School in Honolulu, Correa played collegiately as a catcher at the University of the Pacific from 2012 to 2015. He now returns to the islands with a clear vision: to blend his professional exposure with his deep cultural ties, driving the program toward sustained excellence.
