Family Influence and Multi‑Sport Benefits
Isaiah Asuma, a three‑sport athlete from Minnesota, has officially pledged to Montana State University’s 2027 football recruiting class, a move that underscores the Bobcats’ growing appeal among elite high school talent.
During his senior season at Cherry High School, Asuma amassed more than 2,200 rushing yards and scored 25 touchdowns, a performance that helped his team contend for a state title. In basketball, he crossed the 2,000‑point milestone in his junior year, showcasing a rare blend of size, speed and shooting touch.
His athletic versatility extends to baseball, where he continues to refine his swing and fielding skills. The same season, he also earned a basketball scholarship offer from Division II University of Minnesota‑Duluth, a testament to his all‑around abilities.
Asuma cited the warm reception from the Montana State coaching staff as a decisive factor, noting that the program’s emphasis on player development resonated with his own goals. He also highlighted the influence of two cousins who compete at the University of Minnesota, whose own Division I pathways helped shape his aspirations.
Beyond statistics, Asuma believes that participating in multiple sports has equipped him with transferable skills — discipline, adaptability and strategic thinking — that will serve him well on the football field and beyond.
