Hunter Halajian, a recent graduate of Watertown High School, has signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Northeast Iowa Community College, marking the next step in a promising pitching career.
A Standout Season
During the 2026 summer campaign he compiled a 6‑2 record, struck out 66 batters and posted a 1.36 WHIP while maintaining a 3.02 earned run average across 58 innings.
The performance helped Watertown Arrows Post 17 reach the state Class A South Dakota High School Baseball Association tournament final, where the team finished as runners‑up.
Coach’s Praise
Watertown Arrows Post 17 coach Ryan Neale highlighted Halajian’s relentless work ethic and steady improvement, noting that the pitcher’s dedication was evident throughout the tournament run.
Future rosters take shape
Jackson McClemens, also from the Watertown area, has committed to Mount Marty University in Yankton, where he will compete in both basketball and baseball. Meanwhile, Mack Saxon has pledged to join Northern State University in Aberdeen for football; he will enter his senior year with the Tigers this fall.
These commitments underscore a growing pipeline of talent from the region, as area colleges bolster their programs with proven performers.
