The Lindenwood baseball team saw its regular season conclude with a 14-9 loss at the hands of Southern Indiana on Tuesday, a game played in front of a modest crowd in Evansville, Indiana.
Early Momentum for the Screaming Eagles
Southern Indiana struck first, plating a run in the bottom of the first inning before adding two more in the second to take a 4-0 lead.
The Lions answered in the fourth when Owen Ralph delivered a two‑RBI single that cut the deficit in half, bringing the score to 4-2.
Southern Indiana responded with a three‑run homer by Patrick McLellan in the home half of the fourth, extending the lead to 7-4.
Lindenwood rallied in the seventh, scoring four runs to narrow the gap and briefly threaten a comeback, but the Screaming Eagles answered back later in the same inning to push the margin to 14-7.
The Lions added a couple of runs in the ninth, but the rally fell short, sealing a final tally of 14-9.
Despite the loss, the team will enter the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament as the sixth seed, opening postseason play against seventh‑seed UT Martin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19.
