However, the 2026 campaign arrives with a noticeable shift: four-year starters Greg Price and Daron Hill have graduated, leaving the roster younger and less experienced than in previous years.
Head coach Anthony Burns has made it clear that the team's primary objective is not to chase a particular record but to cultivate chemistry and growth among the newcomers. "We’re focusing on development and chemistry rather than our record or summer performance," Burns explained, underscoring the importance of building cohesion early in the schedule.
Leadership and Versatility Return to the Court
Among the returning lettersmen, junior Ice Taylor stands out as a pivotal figure. Last season he averaged 16.1 points per game and drained 47 three‑pointers, providing a reliable scoring threat. Adding to the mix, Charlie Mallett — an All‑Ohio wide receiver who also contributes on the hardwood — brings leadership and versatility that Burns hopes will anchor the younger players.
Several other athletes, including Lewi Walter, KJ St. Clair, and Tommy Grajzl, gained valuable minutes last season and are expected to assume larger roles. Their continued development will be essential as the team navigates a demanding Division III district pool that includes tough matchups against Berea‑Midpark, North Ridgeville, and Hoban.

Hawken secured a narrow 61‑57 victory over Benedictine at the Midwest Live event, a game that highlighted the team's resilience and capacity to execute under pressure.
