Midland High’s baseball program received a jolt of recognition this week as Coach Joshua Hulin was crowned the 2026 Reporter‑Telegram Coach of the Year. The accolade follows a season in which the Bulldogs compiled a 30‑7 record, captured a share of the District 2‑6A title and fought their way to the regional semifinals.
A Campaign Defined by Momentum
The team rattled off sixteen consecutive victories, a streak that began with a sweep of Odessa High and included a decisive series against Southlake Carroll, the traditional state powerhouse. Each win underscored a collective confidence that built week after week.
Hulin often pointed to the nine senior players who had grown under his guidance since their freshman year. He praised their self‑discipline and the way they embodied the program’s values, noting that their development was the backbone of the squad’s success.
Beyond the Diamond
The coach also highlighted the role of parents, the broader community and the players themselves in shaping the environment that made the season possible. Their combined effort, he said, turned a promising roster into a cohesive unit capable of competing at the highest level.
The run ultimately ended when Dallas Jesuit swept the Bulldogs in the regional semifinals, but the experience left a lasting imprint. The team finished the year with a 30‑7 record, a shared district championship and a glimpse of what can be achieved when talent meets discipline.
