A Deal Shaped by Family and Future
Jacob Trouba has officially put pen to paper on a four‑year, $33 million contract with the San Jose Sharks, a move that underscores the importance of a stable term for his family.
The veteran defenseman praised the Sharks’ organization and expressed genuine excitement about the prospect of reuniting with former teammate Barclay Goodrow, believing the veteran forward will add a familiar spark to the lineup.
Beyond personal connections, Trouba said he is eager to mentor the team’s young defensemen, building relationships that could shape the next generation of blue‑liners in San Jose.
He also reflected on his previous stint with the Anaheim Ducks, noting that staying on the West Coast has been a priority and that he is enthusiastic about spending several more years in California.
Maintaining peak physical condition through the length of the deal is another cornerstone of his plan, a goal he says he can achieve with the support of the Sharks’ staff and his long‑time friend, former Ranger Mike Grier.
