A quartet of high school baseball standouts from Ringgold, Belle Vernon and Canon‑McMillan have been recognized by the Pennsylvania All‑State selections, a testament to their dominant senior seasons and the growing talent pool in the region.
Class 4A First Team: Angotti and Bergman Shine
Gavin Angotti of Ringgold led the way with a .453 batting average, adding nine doubles, three triples and two home runs while driving in 14 runs and scoring 21. His speed translated into nine stolen bases, and his defensive reliability shone with a .908 fielding percentage, earning him a spot at PennWest California.
Connor Bergman from Belle Vernon posted a .458 average, smacked two homers and contributed 33 RBIs. The versatile infielder will continue his career at Pitt‑Greensburg, where coaches expect his bat to translate into immediate impact.
Class 6A Second Team: Maruschak and Shulsky Excel
MJ Maruschak of Canon‑McMillan posted an ERA under 1.00 during the regular season, a rarity that helped his squad remain competitive. The right‑hander has committed to Winthrop, where he hopes to build on his strong pitching foundation.
Sebastian Shulsky also represented Canon‑McMillan on the second team. He delivered a standout performance in a 4‑3 semifinal loss to North Allegheny, showcasing poise under pressure. Shulsky is headed to Cincinnati to join the Bearcats' baseball program.
The four players will now transition to the collegiate level, each bringing a distinct skill set to their respective programs. Their selections underscore the depth of talent emerging from Pennsylvania's high school ranks and signal promising futures both on and off the diamond.
