A Historic Setting for a Modern Showcase
Every summer the Cape Cod Baseball League transforms Fenway Park into a proving ground where the nation's top college prospects get a rare chance to swing on one of baseball's most iconic stages.
This year the workout drew a mix of international talent and seasoned collegians, highlighted by Seojun Oh, a South Korean outfielder whose first glimpse of the Green Monster left him visibly excited, and Brady Christman, who launched 12 home runs in college and sent balls soaring over the Monster's famed perch.
The early morning session saw the Falmouth Commodores and Cotuit teams take the field, while former Cape League standouts such as Jon LeGrande, a onetime Bourne Brave who later starred at St. John's, joined the scout squad under the watchful eye of Washington Nationals scout Peter Flaherty, a figure with deep roots in both the league and Fenway's history.
Adding a family narrative, Adrian Beltre Jr., son of the late Hall of Famer Adrian Beltre, suited up for the Orleans Firebirds and was cheered by relatives, while top high school prospect Brody Bumila delivered the ceremonial first pitch, a performance that has already positioned him as a projected top‑15 draft pick.
Beyond the on‑field action, the event underscored the league's century‑long reputation as a premier summer incubator for future Major League talent, a role that continues to attract scouts, media and fans eager to glimpse the next generation of stars.
