High Point University has captured the imagination of the Big South baseball community by securing the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament for the first time in program history, a reward for a 17‑7 regular‑season campaign.
A milestone seed and a packed schedule
The championship will unfold from May 20 through May 23 at HomeTrust Park in Asheville, North Carolina, the home ballpark of the Asheville Tourists, which is being hosted by Explore Asheville.
Six teams have earned berths in the double‑elimination format, with Winthrop positioned as the No. 2 seed and the trio of USC Upstate, Charleston Southern, Radford and Longwood rounding out the bracket.
USC Upstate, the reigning champion, is chasing a historic back‑to‑back title, a feat not achieved since the 2022‑2023 stretch, while Charleston Southern and Longwood are eager to claim their first tournament crowns.
Winthrop and Radford, both former champions of the Big South, hope to add another trophy to their résumés, and the eventual winner will secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship. Every game will be broadcast on ESPN+, bringing the action to a national audience.
