A Recruit's Decision
Xavier Sabb, a five-star wide receiver out of Glassboro High School in New Jersey, announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks for the 2027 recruiting class, passing on offers from LSU, Tennessee and UCLA.
The pledge arrives as Oregon’s 2027 class climbs to a national No. 3 ranking and secures the top spot within the Big Ten, marking the third five-star recruit to join the Ducks in this cycle.
Coach Dan Lanning and wide receivers coach Ross Douglas were instrumental in Sabb’s decision, emphasizing a fit that blends athletic opportunity with academic ambition and the chance to contend for a national championship.
Building Momentum
Sabb joins fellow five-star receiver Dakota Guerrant, who also chose Oregon over his home-state Michigan Wolverines, while incoming freshmen Jalen Lott, Messiah Hampton and Hudson Lewis are expected to add depth at the position.
The Ducks’ recruiting strategy, championed by Lanning, focuses on forging genuine relationships with prospects, a philosophy that has helped the program threaten to deliver back-to-back top-five classes.
Beyond the field, Sabb’s commitment underscores the growing appeal of Oregon’s academic programs, reinforcing the university’s broader mission to attract students who excel both in the classroom and on the gridiron.
