The University of Washington men's basketball program has endured two consecutive losing seasons under head coach Danny Sprinkle, a stretch that has tested both the team's resilience and its fan base.
The roster will look markedly different next year, having lost standout contributors such as Hannes Steinbach, Zoom Diallo and Desmond Claude, who together accounted for a sizable share of the team's scoring and rebounding.
Among those returning, guard Wesley Yates III is expected to shoulder a larger offensive role, while new arrivals Ryan Beasley, LeJuan Watts and Parker Friedrichsen bring a mix of experience and shooting prowess.
Beasley, who dished out four assists per game at San Francisco, is slated to fill the playmaking void left by Diallo, whereas Watts hopes to recapture the form that made him a threat at Texas Tech, and Friedrichsen arrives with a 40‑plus percent three‑point clip from his stint at Davidson.
A pivotal moment for Seattle basketball
Coach Sprinkle acknowledges the steep climb ahead, noting that replacing Steinbach's 18.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game will be a central challenge, but he remains hopeful that early contributions from the newcomers could spark a turnaround.
