Arkansas baseball has vaulted four spots in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll, landing at No. 14 after a 2‑1 week that featured a home series win over Oklahoma.
A Mix of Dominance and Disappointment
The Razorbacks opened the stretch with a 12‑2 victory in which starter Hunter Dietz delivered a complete game, showcasing the depth of the pitching staff. Two days later they erased an 8‑5 deficit to win 12‑8, highlighted by Zack Stewart’s go‑ahead two‑run double that swung the momentum.
Despite the early successes, the final game slipped away as Oklahoma erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning, resulting in a 15‑10 loss that underscored the team’s inconsistency.
The latest poll places UCLA at the summit, followed by North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Georgia and Texas, with nine SEC programs inside the top 25. Arkansas joins a crowded conference contingent that also includes recent series wins over Mississippi State, Alabama and Ole Miss, while also bearing defeats to Georgia, Auburn and Florida.
Looking ahead, the Razorbacks will close out the regular season with a three‑game series at Kentucky beginning Thursday, May 14, a matchup that could further influence their postseason positioning.
