Blue Devils Aim for Continued Growth
The Blue Devils closed the 2025 campaign with an 8‑4 record, a feat not seen since 2013, and earned a spot in the state quarterfinals. The performance set the stage for a season that many expect to be even more competitive.
Head coach Matt Dobson says the offseason has been devoted to adding depth and sharpening the team’s overall performance for 2026. He believes the roster’s blend of experience and youthful energy will translate into stronger results on the field.
Depth and New Talent Drive Optimism
Key contributors are set to return, including starting quarterback Beckham Jarrard, while Portal transfer Gideon Fulcher will serve as his backup and also see time at receiver. The offense also welcomes D.J. Brooks and Matthew White, two newcomers who could make an immediate impact.
On defense, the squad will be without running back Keon Childers and leading receiver Gage Newsome, but Dobson notes that sophomores are ready to step into larger roles. The coaching staff has rearranged positions and is counting on younger players to fill the gaps left by departed stars.
During the summer, the Blue Devils hosted a scrimmage against Johnson and Effingham County, using the session to fine‑tune schemes and evaluate progress before the new season begins.
